After a member or day pass user has taken any Level 1: Shop Safety class within a designated shop they are granted access to the corresponding shop. Members and day pass users can not utilize tools or machines covered in advanced classes without prior completion of advanced classes.
For those who cannot attend Community Orientation at any of the times listed above please visit the front desk for an abbreviated orientation on an Open Works iPad.
Online orientation must be completed in person. Open Works recommends attending a full-length Community Orientation even when an online orientation has been completed.
After you sign up for orientation, you will receive an email confirmation for the date and time you selected. You must attend this orientation in order to proceed to the next step.
We understand that for some seniors our standard 10% senior discount is not enough to make the cost of membership affordable. For seniors demonstrating financial need, we offer sliding scale senior membership options. Please support Open Works by giving as generously as possible with your monthly membership fees contribution as we are a non-profit organization.
To apply for a sliding scale membership option, please first make sure that you meet the following requirements:
Be 55 or older.
Demonstrate financial need as defined by zip code of residence, size of household, employment status, and statement of need.
Preference will be given to our neighboring applicants who are residents of Barclay, Greenmount West, and Johnston Square.
