Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
• Sturdy, close-toed shoes must be worn at all times for traction and stability.
• Long hair, jewelry, and loose clothing must be tied back to prevent getting caught in moving parts. For more information on shop safety visit Textiles under "Safety."
Put the spool of thread that you want wound onto the bobbin on the spool rack for the machine. Pass the end through the eye in the thread bar.
Now pass the end of the thread through the loop on the tensioner from left to right (from the machine side towards the tension discs).
Wrap the thread under the tension discs, making sure that the thread goes between the discs. The thread will now have some resistance when you pull on it.
Put a bobbin on the winder, making sure that it is pressed all the way towards the machine.
Take the end of the thread, pass it under the bobbin, then over and towards the back of the machine.
Do not pull thread through any holes in the bobbin.
While holding the end of the thread towards the back of the machine with one hand, use your other to wrap the thread around the bobbin in order to trap the end of the thread. Wrap it five times.
If any of the thread end is sticking out, trim the end as close to the bobbin as possible.
