Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

A dust mask or a NIOSH certified respirator is recommended.

The knife inserts should be changed when they become dull or chipped. The knife inserts have four sides and can be rotated 90° for a fresh edge, and re-installed. Generally, all of the inserts should be rotated at the same time to maintain a consistent edge, however chipped inserts should be rotated individually. Each knife insert has an etched reference mark for keeping track of the rotations.
Disconnect machine from power source.
Remove the dust hood and the top cover. Remove the chip deflector. Remove the belt guard so you can rotate the cutterhead using the pulley.
For each knife insert, remove screws using a T25-plus driver.
Always use a T25-Plus driver. Other bits will strip the screw heads.
Dust accumulation on the knife insert seat can prevent it from seating properly and degrade the quality of the cut.
Make sure all knife insert screws are tightened securely. Loose inserts can be propelled at high speed from a rotating cutterhead, causing injury.
