The Wood Shop has several air handling systems in it. These include several vacuum systems, a couple of air filters, and a pressurized system. This page is purely for information and includes no instructions for members.
The air filters hung from the ceiling help keep the dust level in the air down. They do not negate the recommendation to wear a mask or respirator.
There is a dust collection system that hooks the machines up to the big vacuum in the closet. Many of the machines have gates near them. Open, these gates connect the machine to the system. Closed, the gates ensure that the other machines hooked up to the system have enough suction.
This system can be turned on and off using the remote on the closet door. The remote is labled and there is no need to remove it from the sign to use it.
If this system does not turn on, alert a Community Technician immediately.
There are several shop vacs scattered throughout the shop. Two of them are set up near the work tables with orbital sanders hooked up. One of them is connected to the miter saw. The ones not attached to anything are for general clean up.
The pressure system is used primarily for clearing dust and chips out of cuts, blowing dust off of people, and driving air powered tools.
