A bench polisher is a grinder set up with buffing or polishing wheels. Typically the left wheel has a coarser grit than the right wheel. Typically polishing is one of the last steps in a production process because it does not change the shape of the workpiece but removes tooling marks and makes the workpiece smooth and shiny.
A membership or day pass is required to access the Metal Shop.
The Shop Safety Class Metal 1: Shop Safety is required to operate the bench grinders.
The bench polisher does not require a reservation and is available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Power on the polisher using the switch in the middle and wait for it to come up to speed.
Never start the polisher with the workpiece against the wheel! The wheel could grab the workpiece and hurt you, or the added friction could damage the motor.
Once the polisher has come up to speed you can get to work.
When powering off the polisher, stay by the machine until it is fully still.
Clean up your work area with a broom and dustpan.
