The spray booth is a small, heavily ventilated room that can be reserved for spray painting or any other finishing technique that produces vapors, strong smells, or needs a low particulate environment. It is equipped with an air compressor hookup for users to bring their own paint guns if desired.
The spray booth requires a reservation to use, and may be reserved for a day or less at a time. It should be reserved for the amount of time it takes you to spray your project, plus the amount of time it takes your project to off-gas. If you are more than 30 minutes late to your reservation, your reservation may be cancelled.
Projects cannot be stored in the spray booth overnight without a reservation from 9-9:15 AM the next morning for project removal, or 12-12:15 PM on Sundays. If you are not available to remove your project from 9-9:15 AM or the booth is already reserved by another user, you may not store your project overnight. Please obtain a project tag from a Community Technician if you are storing your project overnight. Open Works is not responsible for any damage that occurs to projects left in the spray booth.
The shops here are a shared space, with a community of users at all different experience levels. Open Works strives to foster a welcoming environment where folks feel comfortable asking questions and learning. Community Technicians are also available to help and answer questions about any tools or processes you are unfamiliar with. It is always better to ask questions than use a tool in an unsafe way. Even experts sometimes need to be reminded of good habits!
Everyone is expected to clean up after themselves during and after using any shops, labs, or classrooms. Use the brooms and other cleaning supplies provided to clean the room as you go. Please remove and store any sawhorses back on their hooks outside the spray booth. Community Technicians will ask you to begin cleaning up 30 minutes prior to closing. Please be mindful that we share this space with everyone and its all of our responsibilities to keep things neat and orderly.
A membership or day pass is required to access the spray booth.
No classes or training are currently available for the spray booth or any paining/finishing techniques.
The Spray Booth requires reservation and is available during regular business hours.
